#57 - DITCH THE RESOLUTIONS - JUST DO WHAT WORKS

  • The beginning of a new year is always a good opportunity to review what worked for you in the past year(s), and what didn't hit the spot, in terms of your physical and emotional wellness.
  • While I don't have the answer for other people (but am happy to shout health advice from the rooftops), there are certainly some common features that I hear about in clinic. So the things my patients tell me that work for them physically, include...
    • 1.
regular exercise - to keep the mind alert, the bowels working, and manage stress
    • 2.
eating less packaged foods and more real food - to have more energy, and keep the kids healthy
    • 3.
eating a raw salad everyday - to keep the calories down, get the olive oil in, and get the fibre happening for those sluggish bowels
    • 4.
      • drinking less alcohol - to keep the calories down, sleep better, clearer skin
    • 5.
eating more healthy fats like nuts and avocado - feel fuller for longer, enjoy more variety in meals, less tempted to look for processed snacks

    • For Emotional wellbeing, this is what I hear the most...
    • 1.
      I trust my instinct more
    • 2.
I do a few minutes of meditation/relaxation/breathing exercises everyday
    • 3.
      I exercise regularly
    • 4.
I've learnt to delegate (getting a cleaner has saved many a relationship I suspect)
    • 5.
I stop to smell the roses (ie gratitude)
    • Not sure if you share similar insights, if you have a few pearls of your own, I'd love to hear them (and share them, with permission and anonymity).
    • May 2016 provide us all with opportunities to grow, adapt, connect, and share...
