NATUROPATHY
Naturopathy is the perfect blend of Traditional and Modern Medicine - its roots span thousands of years, and much of what we know today, comes from the traditional use of plants and other natural compounds.
This vast history has allowed Naturopaths practising today to feel confident in the effectiveness and safety of natural medicines. The philosophy of natural health is based on 3 premises:

1. Address the whole person, not just the illness.

2. Provide the right physical and emotional environment and the body's own healing capacity, will in return, provide good health.

3. Address the underlying causes of illness.

Christine is a Naturopath, Herbalist, Nutritionist, and Homeopath. Each appointment will incorporate elements from each of these areas, as required for the individual.
BODY WORK THERAPY
Health in our Hands offers a range of body work therapies to suit every body.
Body work therapies work by treating the soft tissue of the musculoskeletal system. However, it affects all body systems especially the circulatory and nervous systems. As such, it can help to reduce muscle tension, increase blood flow, enhance tissue healing from injury or trauma, and either calm or stimulate the nervous system.

Body work therapies also help to reduce blood pressure and heart rate, relieve pain, speed up the removal of waste products from the body, and enhance mobility through the muscles and joints.

Christine is trained in Bowen Therapy, Thai Massage, and Remedial Massage.

Our other therapists offer remedial massage, Swedish massage, sports massage, and Kahuna hot stone massage appointments, which can be booked directly with the therapist.
YOGA THERAPY
A Yoga Therapy session focuses on deep relaxation and stress reduction.
Unlike regular group Yoga classes, your session is all about you and your needs, as opposed to the group setting. Yoga Therapy is designed to help each individual release tension, restore balance, and attain an ongoing sense of calmness and wellbeing.
It's so important to learn how to self regulate and manage stress. Yoga Therapy sessions can empower you to utilise the poses as tools to reset and approach life with a peaceful heart.
Here's what you might expect in a typical Yoga Therapy session:
-
Setting the environment: Christine utilises specialised equipment, known as props to support you in the Yoga poses. These props enable your body to derive the benefits from the session, irrespective of how tight or inflexible you body may feel.
-
A sequence of poses are tailored toward your needs, Christine calls them Yoga remedies. They address your symptoms that have brought you to the appointment.
-
You will be guided throughout the session, to encourage a deeper connection to the abiding stillness that always is -- but has been occluded by the stresses and busyness of everyday life.
This is a safe space, where you can leave all your concerns behind and bring your full attention to healing.
Christine's knowledge and experience will guide you into and out of each pose that has been chosen for you. No strenuous effort is required and there's absolutely no need to push or strain.
After each session, Christine will prescribe some supported poses that you can practice at home, to calm your nervous system and bring you back to a balanced state of being, for living everyday life with equanimity.
-
Christine provides adjustments and modifications to the poses to ensure that you experience the appropriate level of comfort and relaxation in each pose.
-
Breathwork and mindfulness: Throughout the session, you will be taught how to focus on your breath by using some specific techniques. This encourages a deep relaxation and can help you develop mental clarity.
-
Closing sequence: Towards the end of the session, you will be gently guided out of the restorative poses and into a comfortable seated or lying position for a final relaxation (Savasana).
Yoga Therapy is suitable for anyone seeking relaxation, stress relief, and a way to reconnect with their inner calmness and peace. For more information: www.yogatherapy.shireyoga.com.au

Naturopathy is not "alternative" medicine - it is simply a different system of treatment that focuses on optimal wellness and preventative medicine, rather than just the absence of disease.
That is, even without the diagnosis of a disease, you may still feel tired, unwell, stressed, bloated, suffer with recurrent infections, feel hormonal, or have aching joints. Your choice to seek Naturopathic treatment means you are ready to make dietary and lifestyle changes, that will benefit you in the short term, as well as set in place the foundations for life -long health, and disease prevention.

Christine's approach is down-to-earth, sensible, and achievable… no extreme diets or mountains of pills to swallow. A Naturopathic consultation typically takes 60 - 75mins, and your diet, digestive function, sleep, stress levels, hormones, physical activity, and energy levels will be discussed. We offer support, education, and expert guidance – to get you well, and keep you there.
