THE OSTEOPOROSIS SCAM 🤔

Perhaps a little shocking to use that word, but let me explain...
Osteoporosis (thin and brittle bones) is real - but we can't gauge risk with bone mineral density scans.
Our peak bone mass is around the age of 30, so your bone mineral density on a DEXA scan at 50 or older, is comparing your results (T-score) to a 30 year old, that's a bit silly😵💫
The data from those scans often does NOT correlate to the actual strength of the bones.
A result of low density on a DEXA scan does not correlate well with fracture risk (less than 30% predictive of fracture risk). It makes this scan less predictive of fractures than the simple question of...
"Do you have impaired balance?" (40% predictive of fracture risk)
Osteoporosis is a condition of LOW TENSILE STRENGTH due to reduced levels of collagen.
Tensile strength cannot be gauged with a bone density scan, which is why these scans are bad at predicting fracture risk.
Tensile strength cannot be improved with calcium, which is why calcium supplements have NOT been proven to prevent osteoporotic fractures.
The drugs that are recommended come with side effects - from inflaming or eroding the oesophagus, severe bone, muscle, joint pain to osteonecrosis (death of bone tissue) within the jaw bone, flu like symptoms, declining kidney function, atrial fibrillation, increased risk of certain types of fractures...oops 🫢
The benefit must outweigh the risk of using these medications eg catastrophic bone loss from cancer treatment (but also question the cancer 'treatment'), Paget's bone disease, high dose prednisone.
DIET and LIFESTYLE to REDUCE FRACTURE RISK:
Here it is in point form but of course I would need to personalise this info for each individual...
1. Build muscle
2. Consider supplementing with Vit C and collagen
3. Consider supplementing with Vit D and K2 (MK-7)
4. Melatonin (promotes osteoblasts, the cells that build bone)
5. Don't smoke or drink
6. Consider progesterone support
7. Correct mineral deficiencies (a hair tissue mineral analysis is the best at evaluating this)
8. Review use of stomach acid blocker medications
