PUNCH OUT THE PARASITES

Parasites are one of the most overlooked causes of illness. The symptoms and signs can be similar to many other illnesses, making parasite diagnosis even more tricky. If you have any of the following gut or non-gut symptoms, then ruling parasite infection out is crucial to a correct diagnosis.

Gut symptoms include:

  • Abdominal pain

  • Loss of appetite / increased appetite

  • Diarrhoea / constipation / flatulence

  • Food intolerance

  • Malodorous stool

  • Anal itching

  • Nausea / vomiting

Non gut symptoms include:

  • Auto-immune disease

  • Chronic fatigue, brain fog

  • Muscle / joint pain

  • Headaches

  • Fever

  • Allergies

  • Anxiety

  • Sleep disturbances

Parasites are difficult to treat medically and naturopathically, mainly due to the resistance that these bugs have developed, as well as the infected person's general health and immune function.

Naturopathically, there are effective antimocrobial herbs I prescribe such as Garlic, Black Walnut, Wormwood; essential oils such as Clove, Oregano, Thyme, and specific probiotics.

There are also formulas that reduce the infection and inflammation in the

gut so that it heals well and becomes less attractive to parasites.

The best diet for eradicating parasites needs to be tailored to the individual but generally the do's and don't's are:

DO include veggies in every meal, wash well, lightly steam

DO include bitter foods such as rocket, raddichio lettuce, watercress, lemon

DO drink green smoothies to alkalise the body

DO include fermented foods eg sauerkraut, kefir, kombucha

DON'T consume juice, sweet products or dairy produce

DON'T eat sweet starchy veggies such as potato, carrot, sweet potato

DON'T drink alcohol

DON'T eat grains such as wheat, barley, oats, rice

There are many more approaches but not all are needed at once. More importantly, allow 3-6 months to treat.

You don't need to put up with gut and non-gut symptoms forever. Contact Christine for an appointment to discuss an individualised approach.
